Jurong East Residents Discover 12 Free Outdoor Gyms and Running Loops
Residents turn to no-cost equipment stations and running loops scattered through neighbourhood parks for daily training.
How we reported this

Jurong East residents logged more than 4,200 visits to free outdoor fitness stations during the first week of July 2026, according to entry counts posted by the National Parks Board at two main sites.
Economic reports released this month showed recession risks receding while consumer spending stayed cautious, pushing more people toward equipment that requires no membership or travel costs. Local wellness routines have shifted outdoors as households look for reliable ways to maintain strength and cardio sessions close to home.
The main circuit sits inside Jurong Lake Gardens along Jurong East Street 21, where pull-up bars, parallel bars and leg-press stations were upgraded in early 2024. A second cluster operates at the Yuhua Neighbourhood Park fitness corner on Jurong East Avenue 1, featuring a rubberised running loop and resistance machines spaced every 50 metres.
Equipment details at each location
At Jurong Lake Gardens the circuit includes eight stations arranged in a 400-metre loop around the western pond. Users can move from chest-press units to balance beams without crossing roads. Shade structures added last year keep the area usable through afternoon heat. The Yuhua site adds a 300-metre rubber track and six body-weight stations near the community centre entrance, open from 6 a.m. daily.
A 2025 Housing and Development Board resident survey recorded that 68 percent of Jurong East households used at least one outdoor fitness point in the previous twelve months. Maintenance logs show both parks received new rubber matting and safety signage in March 2026.
Practical steps for first-time users
Arrive before 8 a.m. or after 6 p.m. to avoid peak crowds at either park. Bring a water bottle; refill stations operate at the Jurong Lake Gardens car park and beside the Yuhua community club. Check the National Parks Board website each Sunday for temporary closures due to equipment servicing. Residents new to the stations can follow the illustrated panels mounted at each machine for basic form guidance before progressing to longer circuits.
